Currumbin Wildlife Hospital gets countless admissions of waterbird patients every year. Most of these patients will spend time rehabilitating in our Waterbird Rehabilitation Facility.
This week we have a cormorant, two swans and two seagulls recovering together. For the most, part the mixed species recover together harmoniously and sometimes like our two swans here even fall in love.
Occasionally we get a cranky patient that doesn’t feel like being social, in this case we can put a barrier down the middle of the pond to separate the birds from one another.
Waterbirds are admitted to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital for a variety of reasons but hook and fishing line injuries are the most common reason for admission.
