Patient of the Week
This week’s Patient of the Week is Thomas, a very special little sugar glider.
Thomas was accidentally stood on by a person and is now suffering from soft tissue swelling around his spinal area. As a result of the accident, Thomas is now unable to use his tail and back legs adequately and is also unable to urinate on his own.
Thomas will remain in Currumbin Wildlife Hospital until he begins urinating on his own again, this will happen as the swelling begins to reduce and can take around one week. Once he is urinating on his own, he will receive further rehabilitation until he has completely recovered to ensure his survival once released back into the wild.
Sugar Gliders are nocturnal marsupials that have the ability to glide from tree to tree, and as you can see from these pictures, they are very pretty little creatures.
