Patient of the Week
This week’s patient is Sticky.
Sticky is a 2kg Carpet Python and was found in a Molendinar backyard. The residents could see that the snake had a stick protruding from its body so it was brought to Currumbin wildlife Hospital for veterinary treatment.
Our wildlife veterinarian Dr Andrew Hill successfully removed the stick from the snake under anaesthesia. You can see in the images that the stick was around the same length as a cotton bud. Sticky is very lucky because the stick came quite close to the lung area but thankfully it did not puncture the lung. This carpet python will continue to receive antibiotics to clear infection as well as anti – inflammatories and pain relief. We are hopeful that Sticky will make a full recovery and be returned to the wild soon.
