This week we have an update on a very special patient ‘Reg’, a beautiful koala who was admitted to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital following a soccer net entanglement back in September.
Reg suffered some swelling of his limbs following the net entanglement which was treated at the wildlife Hospital. While the entanglement was quite the ordeal for Reg, it turns out that the soccer net incident saved his life. Reg was infected with a disease called chlamydia. If he had not of become entangled he would not have come to the wildlife hospital where he was diagnosed and treated for chlamydia. If Reg had remained in the wild without treatment he would have died.
This very lucky koala was finally released back into the wild this week following a lengthy stay in hospital for the treatment of chlamydia. Thanks to the soccer nets Reg has a second chance at life.
