Meet Hendrix the Koala Part 3
To everyone who has been following Hendrix’s story I am very pleased to say that as predicted he has been moved outside to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital’s Koala Rehabilitation facility. Hendrix has had a really good week and is loving his gum, it is a great sign to see him looking so relaxed and eating well.
Did you know that koalas live on a diet solely made up of Eucalyptus leaves? They are very fussy eaters and mostly eat the soft fresh tips of the gum. A huge amount of effort goes into feeding wild koala patients like Hendrix; from planting and maintaining tens of thousands of eucalyptus trees in plantations to gum cutting each morning for our hungry patients and then feeding them twice a day.
Hendrix is still receiving pain relief for his wrist and has a long road to recovery ahead of him. We will continue to update you on this handsome boy’s progress each week and provide plenty of pictures, so stay tuned!
