Lazer the Torresian Crow
Meet Lazer, this Torresian crow was admitted to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital with an extremely heavy fishing lure embedded in his wing and fishing line wrapped around.
Lazer is one of the lucky ones; many native animals that get wrapped in fishing line become tangled in trees and other things resulting in entrapment. They are unable to get food or water and are vulnerable to predators, resulting in a terrible and unnecessary death. Lazer was anaesthetised to have the lure removed from his wing which is badly bruised. He is currently receiving anti-inflammatories, pain relief, antibiotics and some fluid therapy. Lazer is expected to make a full recovery.
Please help patients like Lazer by disposing of fishing line and hooks correctly. If you find these things lying around please pick them up and save a life.
