Meet Kye, this beautiful boy was admitted to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital suffering from chlamydia. Sadly one of the symptoms of this horrible disease is conjunctivitis, as you can see Kye has very sore eyes. Many koalas admitted with this disease also suffer injuries from vehicle hits and dog attacks because the infected eyes make it difficult for the koala to see subjecting them to these further dangers.
Kye is receiving specialised treatment and will be in hospital for at least another month. When Kye has fully recovered he will be released back into the wild.
