Patient of the Week
This week’s patient is Garry.
Garry is a Galah from Upper Coomera. He was found on the road, likely hit by a car and was brought to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital for examination.
Following x-rays, it was found that Garry had a clavicle fracture, but luckily he received no other injuries. Garry is currently on cage rest and is receiving anti-inflamatories and pain-relief until his fracture has healed.
Birds with this type of injury require rehabilitation prior to release, so once Garry’s fracture has healed he will need to spend time in an aviary so that he can strengthen those muscles required for flight to ensure the best possible chance of survival once he is released back into the wild. In the meantime, Gary is enjoying some TLC and gourmet galah meals!
