This week’s patient is a precious little koala Joey named Fraser. Unfortunately young Fraser experienced a serious and distressing ordeal when his mother was kicked by a cow leaving her seriously injured. Sadly Fraser’s mother died due to her injuries, which resulted in young Fraser becoming orphaned.
Thankfully Fraser survived the incident but he suffered extensive injuries. Fraser was examined by Veterinarians at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital which concluded he had two broken limbs among other minor injuries.
Fraser is slowly recovering from his injuries and is being lovingly raised by a koala carer. Fraser is around 11 months old and will remain in care until he is between 18 months and 2 years of age. Fortunately Fraser is expected to make a full recovery and once he is old enough and is completely recovered from his injuries he will be released back into the wild.
