Flossie is a juvenile black swan cygnet from Burleigh Waters.
Flossie found herself stranded on an embankment unable to reach her parents and was rescued by a member of the public. An attempt was made to reunite Flossie with her family but unfortunately it became evident that she was very weak and unable to be reunited.
We have taken x-rays of Flossie as well as blood tests but currently do not have an explanation for her generalised weakness. We are currently treating Flossie with fluid therapy and TLC which has definitely helped because she has perked up a little, and she is eating her specially prepared swan food which is a very yummy mix of finely chopped lettuce, silver beet, seeds and meal worms. We will continue to provide supportive therapy to Flossie. Once she is feeling well this beautiful baby is likely to go into foster care with other juvenile swans of a similar age until she is old enough to care for herself in the wild.
